As an Airman in the U.S. Air Force, David learned what integrity, service, and excellence are all about. As a family law attorney, he brings a similar commitment to each of his clients.

David guides his clients through their unique family law case in a way they can understand and appreciate, while fully protecting their legal rights.
David's practice focuses on cases involving divorce, custody, parenting time, child support, property division, restraining orders, and post-decree modifications and enforcement.

Prior to becoming one of the managing partners in the law firm of Bushnell & Best, David had his own solo family law practice and worked as a Certified Student Attorney in the Human Services Division of the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office. David has also worked as the Executive Director of Twin Cities Christian Legal Aid, and interned with the legal departments of the University of Minnesota Physicians, and the Office of the Governor of Minnesota's General Counsel.
David regularly appears in court and attends mediation sessions, where he effectively represents the interests of his clients in a way that gets results. He has experience handling a wide array of unique family law scenarios, including out of state moves, high conflict cases involving children, domestic abuse, closely held businesses, and helping veterans and current members of the U.S. Military.

Before entering the legal profession, David served as an ordained pastor in the Christian Reformed Church. Following his service in the Air Force, David earned his Master’s Degree in Theology at Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, California. He went on to serve as a pastor at a small church in Lincoln, Nebraska that was committed to serving those on the margins of society. This experience led him to attend law school at the University of St. Thomas.

When he is not practicing law, David enjoys getting outside with his family and trying new things, such as new restaurants and fun outdoor activities.
